Have you ever gamed online until the wee hours of the morning? Why not do it for a great cause?

The Buffalo Blizzard gaming group will be running a 24-hour campaign for Extra Life’s Buffalo chapter at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 21.

While donations will be accepted for the whole 24 hours, there will be an overnight gaming marathon at Game On LAN in Kenmore from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.

“There are a lot of people in Buffalo passionate about video and board games, so we hope to turn that passion into something that can have a really positive impact on our community,” said Taylor Ferguson, team captain of Buffalo Blizzard.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Children’s Hospital via Extra Life, which has raised over $40 million nationwide since the charity launch in 2008.

“The all-night Game-A-Thon format is a nice way to gather everyone together and cultivate a fun atmosphere around fundraising – it’s definitely not easy to pull an all-nighter alone. However, it’s totally understandable that some people may not be able to attend the event or may not be able to stay the full time,” Ferguson said.

Tickets for the marathon are $25 and can be purchased at www.buffaloblizzard.org. Those interested can also donate directly to the campaign from the Extra Life website at www.extra-life.org/team/BuffaloBlizzardGaming.
