Workers World Party, Communist Student League, SUNY BDS , and other collectives in the area are on a mission to make sure the Palestinian struggle remains visible within people’s minds as the Israel-Palestine conflict passes a year in heightened activity.
The groups are placing an emphasis on the United States government’s continuous decision to send weaponry and financial support to Israel.
During a demonstration Oct 4, one Workers World Party organizer shared the sentiment that the government and media continue to use lies about what happened on Oct 7 to justify Israel’s atrocities on Palestinians everyday.
“October 7th was not a terrorist attack,” they continued, “it was a prison break.”
Since Israel’s intensified occupation of Gaza on Oct 7 of last year, tens to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been killed, with an estimated range from 42,000 to 186,000, varying on source.
Demanding a ceasefire is not enough, said a second Workers World Party organizer, the US needs to stop funding Israel’s genocide permanently.
On Oct 8, Buffalo State students received an email from Interim President Bonita R. Durand, detailing that a bias-related incident had taken place the previous morning.
One student who had seen the conclusion of the incident occur heard the words, “End the war,” as students were escorted out of the Campbell Student Union with hands behind their back.
The Record reached out to the Dean of Students office for details, and was sent a statement that Buffalo State will decline to comment further, for the situation had become a legal matter.
This Friday, Oct 11, Buffalo State students are planning to organize a demonstration in the Plaza on campus between the E.H. Butler Library and the Campbell Student Union.
