The Buffalo International Film Festival (B.I.F.F) is a non-profit organization that shows regional, national, and international films that push the limits of independence in cinema.
B.I.F.F was established in 2006 and is committed to amplifying diverse voices and exhibiting cutting-edge programming in narrative, experimental, and documentary films from around the world to Western New York (WNY) residents and its frequent visitors.
The Buffalo International Film Festival for 2024 will take place during the week of October 13 to the 17 and will feature over 150 films.
The films will be viewed at different venues in the Western New York area, including the historic North Park Theatre, Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, Buffalo Toronto Public Media (WNED Studios), Burchfield Penney Arts Center (Buffalo State), and Journey’s End Refugee Cinema.
If your interest isn’t in one specific film, you can purchase a Bison Pass that grants access to any and every show you want to view. The Bison Pass can be purchased for $70 on the B.I.F.F website as early as today!
During an interview with Anna Smith, a 2024 B.I.F.F Production Intern, Anna stated, “The Buffalo International Film Festival has lots of variety with movies, with over 30 different countries that will be represented during the event”.
“This kind of variety is what makes the film festival so unique and makes it feel special every year,” Smith furthered her statement.
When asked what her favorite part of the event was, Smith replied by saying “I love seeing the film makers be there to experience such a big moment, I love to see the diversity presented on the screen, and see all the amazing work for everyone involved pay off.”
The Buffalo International Film Festival is a great way to experience a level of heightened diversity in the form of film making and is a unique thing to go to and experience in the greater WNY area.
The event will feature several different experiences you won’t be able to find elsewhere and is a great way to get involved in the community of Western New York.
