Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills played amazing Monday night and had the Jaguars put away and caged up by halftime in rout to their 47-10 victory.
The game was so one sided, that had it been a boxing match, they would have stopped the fight. The team was backed by a stellar performance from Allen, who went 23/30 for 263 yards and 4 TD, while also rushing the ball 6 times for 44 yds and wasn’t sacked in his dominate display.
Ten different receivers caught a pass from Allen as the pigskin was being distributed everywhere. Leading the receiving corps was Kahlil Shakir who finished for 6 catches for 72 yards and has quickly become Allens number one target.
The Bills scored on all 5 of their first half possessions running up the score to 34-3 at halftime. Buffalo was firing on all cylinders on offense with timely running and passing. This was thanks to the plays schemed by the superb Offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who was calling a flawless game and had the Jaguars defense physically and mentally drained.
Brady was calling a lot of short passes mixed in with the run game that not only kept Buffalo ahead of the chains, but kept them moving along with the game clock.
Brady and his staff dove deep into some tape because Jacksonville’s defense was pretty stingy against the run. However, Brady countered with short passes that put their backs and wideouts in playmaking situations.
The scoring started off with James Cook picking up where he left off last week, as he found the end zone once again. Cook scored on a 6-yard run that capped off an 11-play, five minute and 26 second opening drive.
The Bills then forced the Jaguars to punt on their opening possession, before quickly driving down and scoring again. Buffalo’s second drive was one that consumed five minutes and 12 seconds off the clock and was capped off on a pass to Dalton Kincaid in the back corner of the end zone.
Allen seemed like he had an eternity on the play as he scrambled until he found an open Kincaid to put the Bills up 13-0.
The Jaguars second drive was a long gritty one, that lasted seven minutes and 42 seconds, but the Jags could only come away with three points, keeping Buffalo in front by two scores 13-3. The Jaguars at this point of the game felt like they could finally sustain a drive against the Bills defense.
The Bills would continue to pour it on during their next drive where the fans were thinking they could score and go up 21-3 before the half, which would be reasonable thinking.
Well, that wasn’t the story as the Bills would score three more touchdowns before the half and held Jacksonville to 25 yds of offense on their three possessions before halftime.
Keon Coleman found the end zone for the first time of his young career on a 24 yd touchdown (TD) pass from Josh Allen putting Buffalo up 20-3.
The Bills weren’t done just yet however, as Buffalo added another touchdown in the first half when Josh Allen hit Khalil Shakir for a 24-yard passing TD to put the Bills up 27-3.
Allen then threw his third touchdown of the second quarter to Ty Johnson from 16 yards out to put the Bills up 34-3 at halftime, which put this game pretty far out of reach for the struggling Jaguars.
The Jaguars would finally find the end zone in the third quarter on a 6-yard passing touchdown from Trevor Lawrence to Brenton Strange pulling the Jaguars within 24 points of the Bills at 34-10.
The Bills would add a 27-yard Tyler Bass field goal (FG) to go up 37-10 and that’s where the score stood going into the 4th quarter.
Bass would add his second FG of the game from 43-yards out and put the Bills up 40-10. Bills rookie running back Ray Davis would finish off the scoring for the night with his first career touchdown from 3-yards out, making the final score 47-10 Buffalo.
Defensively, Dorian Williams led the way with 7 tackles and 3 assists. The Bills defense also had 4 sacks with one from each of A.J Epenesa, Ja’Marcus Ingram, Casey Toohill and Von Miller.
Miller has now has a sack in all 3 games in the young 2024-25 season. Damar Hamlin had the lone interception of Trevor Lawrence, which was the first of his career which is great to see for Buffalo.
Linebacker Joe Andreessen did have 1 tackle and 1 assist as the local native from Lancaster NY did get to dress for this game with the injury to linebacker Terrel Bernard.
The Bills now look ahead to their marquee matchup as they take on Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday night at 8:20 on the road at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD.
