Metalcore veterans, blessthefall, made their long awaited return on Sept. 18 Buffalo in the Rec Room. The band deviated from their planned tour run with Polaris, performing an unforeseen show in Buffalo.
The support for this concert are local western New York bands Destroy//Create, HUSH HUSH, and Fight From Within.
This is the first time the band has played here since pre-hiatus on Warped Tour 2017 at Darien Lake.
“We’re not driving pass Buffalo and not playing a goddamn show,” said lead vocalist Beau Bokan on stage.
The response to the show came with a sold out venue, packed from the front of the stage to the back.
Destroy//Create starts it off with their metalcore sound which is getting people’s attention. Their mixture of the extreme sides of metal with some melodic elements get a mosh pit to be forming.
HUSH HUSH, then, is up with their more emo/post-hardcore style. The catchy hooks and instrumentals are having people in their feelings.
The set ended memorably with a cover of “Helena” by the notable band My Chemical Romance.
Fight From Within made it their mission to hype up the crowd before blessthefall. The nu metalcore beatdown energy results in crowd surfing.
With the supporting acts setting up the anticipation for blessthefall, the chances to move from your spot are now over.
Blessthefall jumps into their comeback single “Wake the Dead”. The attention was fully on them with people cheering, screaming, and shouting the lyrics.
Crowdsurfing was reaching higher levels than ever before with Bokan, helping the surf goers reach the stage. It got to the point that security started to come over to stop it.
“I was able to crowd surf twice before, but they were just not having it,” one of the concert goers told me.
The frenzy for blessthefall would still continue throughout the set whether it be the newer tracks in “DRAG ME UNDER” and “Wishful Sinking” to the classic staples in “Hollow Bodies” and “What’s Left of Me”.
During the closing set track, “Hey Baby, There’s That Song You Wanted”, Bokan has the crowd walk him towards the Bar.
Blessthefall is continuing to play shows on the Polaris tour for the rest of September.
