Softball goes 4-0 this weekend at home, despite games being held off-campus.

Buffalo State softball (11-10) is on a four-game win streak as they beat the Cardinals (6-14) in extra innings in game one, and were more dominant in game two of the doubleheader.

Izzy Pezdek earned the win in the circle in the first game as she allowed five hits and struck out six batters. She walked four Cardinals and allowed two unearned runs.

Madison Lucas was victorious in the circle in the second game, but Jean Rogers and Emma Hooftallen each pitched one inning. Lucas had five strikeouts and one walk along and allowed seven hits as well as two runs.

Two unearned runs scored for Plattsburgh in the fourth to put Buff State behind by four, until the Bengals’ bats woke up in the bottom of the sixth.

Kaitlyn Schnitzer walked with bases loaded to score a runner before a single from Kenzie Scott with three ducks in the pond scored two. The Bengals trailed 4-3 and left two runners on base.

Plattsburgh scored in the top of the seventh, but BSU put up a crooked number to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

Buff State’s defense held the Cardinals to a goose egg in the top of the eighth before their offense pulled through with the win.

Katie Pyszczek flew out with runners on second and third to score Pezdek and secure the win.

Buff State had 12 hits and only four strikeouts.

Game 2, W 8-2

Plattsburgh scored a run in the first inning before Buff State got on the board in the bottom of the second inning as Hurley, who walked and then stole second, scored on a double from Lucas.

The Cardinals scored in the top of the third but BSU responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 4-2. Schnitzer hit a double with bases loaded and then advanced to third on a bad throw to score everybody.

The Bengals scored another four runs in the fourth. Congelosi, who got on base with a single, scored on a hit from Pyszczek. Parsons followed up with a hit and advanced to second on the throw. Parsons and Pyszczek scored on a single from Quagliana, who later scored on a single from Lucas.
