Buffalo State put up a crooked number in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. The runners advanced on a wild pitch and Quagliana crossed home plate before Congelosi hit a single to score Albano.
Hurley got on base from a fielder’s choice in the top of the third and secured second base on a wild pitch before Quagliana hit a single and made it to second on the throw. Hurley scored on a wild pitch and Quagliana scored on a throwing error from the catcher to lead 5-0.
A homerun from Union with two runners on base made it a 5-3 game until Congelosi stole second, made it to third on a throwing error from the catcher and scored on an error from the centerfielder.
A big fourth inning from Union gave them a 7-6 advantage over the Bengals, which became an 8-6 lead in the fifth, until Buffalo State bounced back with six runs of their own in the sixth inning. Three of the six runs were unearned.
Congelosi bunted to score Albano and then Kellogg was walked to make it bases loaded. Shuta scored on a hit from Parsons and Congelosi crossed the plate after Pezdek was walked, before Quagliana smoked a triple with two outs to bring home Kellogg, Parsons and Pezdek.
Union scored one run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 12-9, which proved to be the final score as neither team scored in the seventh.
Buffalo State vs. Clarkson University, 0-2 L
After shutting out Clarkson on day one, the Golden Knights returned the favor by shutting out the Bengals in their next battle.
Congelosi, Parsons and Kenzie Scott had the only hits of the day for Buffalo State. Kaitlyn Schnitzer was walked twice and Congelosi was 1-of-2 in the batter’s box with a walk.
Clarkson scored in the third and fifth innings, with the run in the fifth scoring due to an obstruction call against the Bengals that pushed the runner to third and advanced the other runner home.
The games scheduled for March 22 were canceled due to rain. Buffalo State’s final double-header of the Florida trip will be Saturday, March 23. First pitch is set for 9am against Kalamazoo College.
