Buffalo Sabres writer Katelyn Kardaman visited Buffalo State on Nov. 30 to provide her expertise to a community she was a part of for so long.

The former Buffalo State graduate explained what it’s like to work for a professional team, the process of getting a job after school, and provided her own tips for students.

“I wanted to give back to Buff State because I learned a lot here and there were a lot of things I didn’t know were available to me that I wanted to make students aware of,” Kardaman said. “There were a lot of people that helped me get to where I am today. So, I wanted to help other students who may have questions on how to get involved in the industry and how to get into it and get a foot in the door. I wanted to help them be able to learn where to start.”

She ended with her biggest pieces of advice: say yes to every opportunity that you can bring a positive attitude to every day, make sure you’re gaining experience that you can put on your resume, and to showcase your skills and make yourself stand out as an ideal fit for the job you’re applying for.
