Alessia Gervasi, Secretary, Writer

First time Buffalo filmmakers set to premiere their feature film and talked about their creative process with 91.3 FM WBNY.

Khalil Carr and Taiyana James are two friends who would make their own short film videos at home during their childhood. Flashforward, to the present day, never to realize their dreams of having a film premiere would happen.

At 19 years old, they used the resources surrounding them to take off their self-proclaimed careers. All while working part-time jobs and Carr being a public relations and advertising major at SUNY Buffalo State University.

Their film ‘Levi’ was written with ideas that came partially from their personal lives and thoughts of interest that stemmed from inspirations through other film making skills.

Carr and James not only produced the film but starred and designed the costumes. This was an experience that involved learning along the way Carr said.

You can join in on the excitement of viewing the film and walking the red carpet at the premiere at the North Park Theater on May 28 at 7p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at eventbright.com for general admission starting at $15.
