An opportunity for students looking to pursue a future in journalism or digital media is being offered by the Buffalo Broadcaster’s Association. The BBA is looking for applicants for this year’s Tim Russert Media Career Award, a 16-year long tradition of recognition to students who show dedication and diligence towards broadcast and/or digital media.

Two deserving students will be accepted to receive the award at the BBA Hall of Fame event as well as $1,000.

Any undergraduate or graduate student who is majoring in a field involving broadcast journalism as well as other digital media paths such as animation, podcasting, and social media can apply.

Applications must include the following components:
– Resume
– 250-word commitment to a career in media
– Letter of recommendation from a professor, academic advisor or media professional
– Links to online portfolios or samples of your work

All four components should be sent to [email protected] by the deadline of Sunday, April 30, 2023.

This award is named in honor of the Buffalo native lawyer and journalist, Tim Russert, who infamously took the role of moderator on NBC’s Meet the Press for 16 years before passing away in 2008.
