With the NFL draft returning on Thursday, April 29, The Buffalo Bills made their first selection in the draft by adding defensive end Gregory Rousseau in the first round.

The 21-year-old defensive end came out of the University of Miami where he became productive during his short stint there. As a redshirt freshman, Rousseau produced over 15.5 sacks- leading the ACC conference and finishing second in the nation.

Bills’ General Manager Brandon Beane explains why Rousseau became a top priority for Buffalo to get in the first round.

“We like Greg through the draft process,” Beane said. “He’s very mature for his age and has the intangibles that you look for in a player.”

Beane also stated that even though Rousseau is very raw, they like who he is and that with time he could reach his full potential.

The 6-foot-7 defensive end became the 3rd straight defensive player that was taken by Buffalo in the first round. Former selections in Tremaine Edmunds and Ed Oliver became huge contributors to the Bills during their rookie seasons. So, Bills fans will have huge expectations for Rousseau heading into the 2021 season.

With day one of the NFL Draft over, the Bills look forward to building on to their roster in the second and third round of the draft on Friday.
