The”juicing” trend makes it way to campus, with Jordynn Naylor as your juice bar guide.

Whenever I scroll through my Instagram, I’m constantly seeing something on juice cleanses.  I did some research and found Buffalo has a variety of juice bars. So, I decided to make this week’s guide on the top spots close to campus for juice.

The first Stop on this healthy Wednesday, was Ashker’s on Elmwood. I got the “Hawaiian Raspberry” which only cost $4. The juice was pretty tasty, and my favorite out of all the juices I ended up trying. It was sweet but not sugary which was what I liked.  They were able to bring out the natural flavor of the fruit using raspberry, banana, and pineapple, which blended together so well.  I thought the shop was cute and had a lot of places to sit. Definitely somewhere you could sit and sip on healthy juice and get some homework done. My overall rating is 9/10.

The location: 1002 Elmwood Ave.

Their hours: Monday-Saturday: 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

Sunday: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

The second stop was Squeeze Juicery.  I had two different drinks here. The first drink was a “Peace Train” shot which was quite a time. The shot is made with basil, lemon, and lemon balm. It cost $3.50. It was too bitter, but definitely made me feel relaxed after a little while. The second drink I had was called “Some Kind of Wonderful” which was essentially a coffee, peanut butter, and banana smoothie. It was pretty good but the combination was a bit strange.  This drink cost $6.95. The shop was more set up like a bar with taller tables and gave off a city vibe with bright colors. My overall rating is 6/10

The location: 770 Elmwood Ave.

Their hours: Monday-Friday: 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.

Saturdays: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Sundays 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

The third stop was Welbeze Juice + Eatery.  The drink I got was the “Clean Sweep,” which had cucumber, mint, watermelon, apple, and lime. It cost $6 for a bottle. The juice was  too bland for my taste.  It tasted more like flavored water than quality, fresh juice. The shop was very mellow. Another great atmosphere, where you could go to get food and a drink while doing some homework. My overall rating is 6/10

The location: 454 Evans St.

Their hours: Monday-Friday: 7:30 am-8 pm

Saturday: 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The fourth and last stop on the juice journey was Jamba Juice. They are a nice option for a healthy alternative to coffee, right next to the Spot coffee shop. The location was definitely the most convenient. My overall rating is 7/10.

The location: On campus, in the Student Union

Their hours: Monday-Friday: 10am- 9pm

Saturday & Sunday: 12 p.m.- 7 p.m.
