Winter isn’t over, yet. But it’s okay. We have a few ideas for you.

The semester has just begun and HEAL BFLO is giving SUNY Buffalo State students an affordable and fun way to handle some of the stress that can come along with it.

The local yoga company is offering free classes this semester at Buckham Hall in room D203 every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and at the basketball courts in Buckham every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The classes are free for any Buffalo State student or faculty member. No registration is required to participate and there’s no obligation to attend every class. It’s recommended that participants come to classes prepared with a yoga mat and water bottle.

The yoga classes offered by HEAL BFLO are described by owner and co-creator Cheryl Erbacher as being exercise for both the mind and body. The yoga taught in these classes are a Vinyasa style flow to music, making it a fun hybrid between yoga stretches and other types of workouts such as core strength.

“It’s one hour and you can come out a different person,” said Erbacher when describing the all-around benefits yoga classes could have for students such as better posture, the ability to increase focus, and an opportunity to meet new peers. “If you show up on the mat, you’ll show up in life.”

In addition to the classes on campus, HEAL BFLO is offering free outdoor yoga classes every Saturday from 9 a.m to 10 a.m at Bidwell Farmer’s Market on Elmwood Avenue until the end of September.
