All-SUNYAC honors for three women’s lacrosse players

Staff Reports

Although their season didn’t end the way they wanted, the Buffalo State women’s lacrosse team had three players receive All-SUNYAC honors. Freshman Alanna Herne and junior Sarah Lorusso earned All-SUNYAC second team, sophomore Cassie Saint-Vil earned All-SUNYAC third team.

Herne had a stellar freshman campaign, leading the Bengals in goals with 42, assists with 26, points with 73 and shots with 98. She had at least two points in 15 of the 16 regular season games, and had at least one goal in all 16. Herne was third in the SUNYAC with 4.29 points per game.

Lorusso finished with 27 points last year, but broke out in a big way this year, finishing second on the team with 52 points. She and Herne combined for a strong one-two punch, as she was also second in goals, assists and shots. She added to her stellar offense and was first on the team in ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls. Lorusso also had at least one goal in 15 of the 16 regular season games and chipped in the only three goals the Bengals were able to muster in their playoff game against Geneseo.

Saint-Vil turned in a strong defensive season with 17 caused turnovers and 36 draw controls, good for second on the team.
