Cydney Jade Ramos, Television and Film Arts senior at Buffalo State University has written and directed a 60-minute feature film, Nastell, premiering at the North Park Theater on May 18 at 11:30 am.
The film follows Ivan Popov who explores a complex, newfound friendship with his best friend, Maz Klein’s younger sister, Nastell Klein, while Maz continues to stay stuck in their country hometown.
This will be Ramos’ directorial debut for a feature film and is highly anticipated by many. She previously worked as the head writer and production designer on the Buffalo State senior capstone pilot episode, Be Happy.
Nastell features the best up-and-coming Buffalo based actors, most of which are represented by the Andrew Lewis Caldwell Acting Studio.
The cast stars Sergey Zhuravsky, Alyssa Grace Adams, Isabel Deschamps, Austin Gallego, Nikki Markey, Justin Wooley, Eric Nicotera, and Lena Lipavsky.
“There wasn’t a day of this summer that we didn’t live, breathe, think, dream, and work for this project” Ramos said. She continued to mention her absolute gratitude for each person that worked on the film non-stop for six days straight and cannot wait to share their work with the world.
Notable credits for the Nastell crew is Robby Motz, the cinematographer, co-writer, and costume designer. Motz owns a clothing line labeled ‘Plain Only Clothing’ that he started back in 2020 that is worn by the actors in the film.
Jayden Rodriguez, Ramos’ brother, also worked on the film as the co-writer, line producer, and assistant director.
Tickets are still available at the link in the bio of Cyd Jade Productions Instagram for $12.00.
There is also on their account, the trailer for the film to get a taste of what you would be getting yourself into. A disclaimer that Nastell covers serious topics such as substance abuse.
Each person who buys a ticket and posts on their story a specific post from Cyd Jade Productions Instagram page will be entered into a contest to win a Plain Only Clothing custom piece that the winner designs and is created by last year’s Buffalo State Runway winner, Robby Motz, with up to $250 value.
The screening event is sponsored by Hispanic Heritage Center, The Ruth, Dry Gin Martini, 716 & Art, and Buffalo Fashion Week.
