ATTAIN labs, otherwise known as Advanced Technology Training and Information Network, is a service-learning program through the State University of New York (SUNY). The program has impacted countless students across universities, especially in Buffalo.
Several aspects of life today require computer literacy to some extent. ATTAIN Labs equips individuals with an understanding of basic skills that are needed to get started in pursuing a job or the advancement of one’s education.
The courses you take provide students with the opportunity to delve into both educational and vocational skills in advanced technology training in a high-demanding technological world and job force.
Some courses they offer focus on Microsoft digital literacy, working with computers, and collaborating online.
ATTAIN Labs isn’t just for college students either; rather, for all academic levels: whether you’re getting ready for college, high school, or have/are working towards a GED.
The program offers different courseware in mathematics, reading, writing, language, science, social studies, typing, keyboarding, among others!
Through ATTAIN Labs, you can attain certifications such as Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) for specializing in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. or Microsoft Certified Fundamentals (MCF) for completing the basic fundamentals of courses.
These different certifications look great on a resume and will help you standout in a competitive job market by meeting the requirements for jobs without needing a degree or to pair with a degree.
ATTAIN Labs also offers a space for career exploration if you haven’t quite decided what you want to do when you go to college for a career.
They offer exciting things like office skills, health care aide, nursing assistant preparation, building maintenance, etc.
The best part of ATTAIN Labs is that it’s free. Yes, free! They have a free learning center right in Buffalo that students can go to if interested in the program. Their location in Buffalo is on 175 Oakmont Avenue Buffalo, NY 14215.
Buffalo State Student Raj Dillon, spoke on his own experiences with ATTAIN Labs, and cites it as a key reason for his success in his career path.
“I’m partnering with ATTAIN Labs in hopes to potentially get certified for the Adobe Premier Software so that I can further excel in my career,” explained Dillon.
He continued the conversation by listing the aspect of the program that benefitted him the most: that is, a free opportunity to learn.
“It’s just a free opportunity to learn. Learn whatever you can, whenever you can and try and set yourself up for success,” said Dillon.
Overall, ATTAIN Labs offers a unique experience; that is, learning valuable skills for a career that typically would take a college degree to acquire.
The program is year-round and requires no previous experience to join.
