Superbowl LIX has finally arrived with the highly anticipated rematch of Superbowl LVII between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. With Superbowl LIX comes huge expectations from both teams. The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping to become the first franchise to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls in the Super Bowl era. The Super Bowl era established in 1966 when the American Football League and National Football League combined. The Philadelphia Eagles hope to avenge the heart-breaking loss suffered 2 years ago on the biggest stage in American sports.
This contest between AFC and NFC giants has something different this year, however. His is name is Saquan Barkley. Barkley, a star running back, stunned the league this year when signing a contract with the Eagles. However, the biggest surprise Barkley would provide would happen during the regular season. Rushing for over 2000 yards is an accomplishment only obtained by a few of the greatest players throughout NFL history and after this season, Saquan Barkley has become one of them. Because of this, Barkley has almost guaranteed himself the award for Offensive Player of the Year while also receiving a few MVP votes along the way.
The only thing standing in the way of cementing this historic season by Saquan Barkley and the Eagles is a man trying to carve his own name into history: Partick Mahomes. Mahomes is already regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the sport, but his ambitions don’t stop there. The accomplishment he seeks this year is a title many would consider to be currently held by Tom Brady, The Greatest of All Time. If the Kansas City Chiefs can accomplish a so-called 3-peat they won’t just be considered one of the greatest football franchises of all time, but also one of the greatest sports franchises of all time.
This battle for history is truly a once in a lifetime experience for any sports fan. Two almost certainly Hall of Famers in their prime battling for the biggest achievement a person in their field can obtain.
