Do you struggle with mental illness and/or have problems adapting to school life? You’re not alone! The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be hosting a ‘Mental Health Matters’ event on March 12.
The event will be held from 12:30-1:30pm in Bulgar 217.
The NAACP mainly created this event for minorities that suffer from mental illness. However, everyone is welcome to participate or attend.
During this event attendees will learn new coping mechanisms for stress and also get a chance to listen to other students/speakers who are dealing with mental health issues. There will also be an area for attendees to socialize and make friendship bracelets.
“[The event] means that it’s okay to not be well all the time and acknowledging that, which is a great step for the Black community. The outcome is to make some connections and take a breather from stress,’’ said Anisa Parsons, a member of the NAACP.
