This weekend, the Buffalo Bills traveled to Landover, Maryland, for a matchup against the 2-0 Washington Commanders.
The game was expected to be close and ended up being anything but that, as the Bills cruised to a 37-3 victory on the road to improve their record to 2-1.
Quarterback Josh Allen had a decent game, recording one touchdown pass and one interception, alongside a rushing touchdown in the blowout win.
The Bills rushing attack looked very stable again this week as between Josh Allen, James Cook, Damien Harris, and Latavius Murray, they had 168 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in a near-flawless game.
A big part of the Bills’ success was their offensive line, which held its own for the entirety of the game. They helped open many rushing lanes for their ground attack and didn’t give up a single sack on the play.
The highlight of the game was the Buffalo Bills defense. The Bills went to work early and never took their foot off the gas.
The Bills defense recorded five turnovers and nine sacks on the day, both season highs for a Buffalo defense that has looked near perfect in recent weeks.
Young Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard had a fantastic game, with two sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery.
Also noteworthy was Bills defensive end A.J Epenesa, who had a pick-six in the fourth quarter to cap off a fantastic defensive effort.
Overall, the Bills played great again and now look ahead to their week four tilt with the division rival Miami Dolphins at home with two teams’ win streaks and the top spot in the division on the line.
The Commanders, despite losing 37-3, didn’t play all that poorly.
The Bills defense made three critical red zone stops in this game. Two were interceptions, and the other was a turnover on downs.
Commanders quarterback Sam Howell had a game to forget, recording just 19 completions for 170 yards and four interceptions on his 29 pass attempts. One of which was returned for six points the other way.
The Commanders running game didn’t do much better either. While they started the game well, the Commanders eventually fell so far behind they couldn’t run the ball anymore and recorded just 105 yards on the afternoon.
The Commanders defense also hit a wall in the form of the Bills offensive line, as they didn’t record a single sack over the course of the game. The rush defense didn’t play too well either, giving up 168 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
However, their pass defense did play well, recording an interception on Bills quarterback Josh Allen, but they couldn’t do much to help the rush defense in their blowout loss.
Overall, the Commanders must put this one in the review mirror and look ahead to their week four contest against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
