Alex the Great’s Fantasy Recap: Week 4

Imagine a world where the New England Patriots have allowed more points on defense than any other team in the league, the rookie-quarterback led Houston Texans put up a team-record 57 points in a game and the Kansas City Chiefs are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL. Welcome to the 2017 NFL season through the first four weeks.

Unfortunately, there was another major injury this past week. Rookie running back sensation Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota Vikings is out for the season with a torn-ACL. For fantasy owners, its back to the waiver wire to try and fill these holes from both injuries and the bye.

Latavius Murray has the best chance to take over in the Minnesota backfield. Jerick McKinnon will be involved in the passing game, but Murray is the back to own with his touchdown-upside. He is the number one waiver-wire add this week. Alvin Kamara is also a must-add. Kamara rushed five times for 25 yards and caught 10 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ Week 4 win over the Dolphins in London.

There are a couple interesting spot starts for those looking for bye-week fill-ins at the RB slot. Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers would be a good pick up if Ty Montgomery does not suit up, Seahawks’ tailback Eddie Lacy and Wayne Gallman of the New York Giants all look to step up this week and potentially take over lead roles.

Will Fuller V made his season debut for Houston Texans last week and immediately made his presence known. Fuller caught four catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns in the astronomical blowout to the Tennessee Titans and tops the waiver wire for wide receivers. Devin Funchess of the Carolina Panthers and Tyrell Williams of the Los Angeles Chargers both had break-out games and must be rostered.

One of the more interesting developments at the wide receiver position thus far is the emergence of Arizona Cardinals’ wide-out Jaron Brown. Through the past three weeks Brown has been the seventh most targeted receiver in the NFL and scored a touchdown in Week 3. Owned in less than ten percent of leagues, he is absolutely worth the add.
