PHOTO GALLERY: Communication department gets new digs
The communication department at SUNY Buffalo State was in need of a new, centralized home and now they have it in the form of a swanky new wing at Buckham hall.
Before the upgrade, the department was scattered all around campus. The professors’ offices were in Bishop hall, a former dorm hall now surrounded by temporary fencing and being renovated to become a dorm hall once again. Classes were held in different buildings throughout campus, and some still are, as there are only a few classrooms in the hall.
This $8.27 million renovation of Buckham’s B-wing was designed two years ago. Construction began last Spring and it was finished in time to hold classes this fall semester.
These new classrooms, aside from being a stylish upgrade compared to many classrooms on campus, are air-conditioned and home to many new computers and televisions. There is also a Stripes Media Lab, a conference room and computer lab used for classes and meetings by clubs in the communication department.
