Gary Miller announced as second presidential finalist, will visit tomorrow
An extensive background in biology highlights the week-traveled resume of the next presidential finalist, who will arrive to campus tonight for a visit that is scheduled to run through Wednesday.
He also embraces Twitter.
Buffalo State on Monday announced Gary L. Miller, chancellor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, will be the second of five finalists to become the school’s ninth president. The third, whose name will be announced tomorrow, is set to meet with campus on Thursday and Friday.
Miller will present during an open forum beginning at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow in Upton Hall’s Enters Theater. The rest of his itinerary during the visit is as follows:
1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Faculty, Warren Enters Theatre
2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Department Chairs/Directors/AVPs, Warren Enters Theatre
3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Professional Staff, Warren Enters Theatre
4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Graduate and Undergraduate Students, Warren Enters Theatre
5:30 p.m. Tour of Buffalo
6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Community Reception, Larkin at Exchange Lobby
Miller has served as chancellor at UNCW since 2011. His career in higher education began in 1981, when he was hired as an associate professor at Mississippi State University. He has since worked in a number of roles across four separate schools — Weber State University (Associate professor, 1986-88), University of Mississippi (Chair, Biology Department, 1988-2002), University of the Pacific (Dean, College of the Pacific, 2002-06) and Wichita State University (Provost and VP for Academic Affairs and Research, 2006-11).
