The #50501 movement is rapidly spreading across the nation. On Feb. 18, a protest commenced in Buffalo, New York, outside City Hall at noon.
Origin of the #50501 Buffalo protest started as a way for those who want to protest but are unable to travel to Albany.
“I wanted to make an option for people closer to Buffalo to stand up, and be able to say something and express your freedom,” an organizer said.

The #50501 protests across the country are in retaliation against Donald Trump’s recent policies and executive orders coupled with his alliance with the far-right corporate billionaire Elon Musk.
“It is my firm belief that Project 2025 is kicking off,” one protester said, “They’re trying to dismantle all the administrative executive structures of our federal government.”
The individual continues to critique the recently established Department of Government Agency (DOGE), and its significant role in the mass firing of federal workers.
“Even Park Rangers I heard got notices of termination,” they said, “These are things that benefit the common people in our country, so I’m very much against dismantling those departments.”

Marchers also were out there in response to the Trump administration’s mistreatment of the LGBTQ+ community, with transgender people being the primary targets.
“I’m here for my trans allies,” a protestor asserted, “I don’t want to live in a country where we have to be afraid to speak out.”

Some protesters left around 2:30 pm due to the inclement weather. Those that remained gathered around to meet each other and discuss the movement’s next step.
“There is going to be an economic blackout on Feb. 28 where we do not buy anything, don’t spend any money,” an organizer said, “No Amazon. No Walmart.”
An emphasis was put that if someone were to buy on Feb. 28, they should support small and local businesses since the aim is to drive a net loss against large corporations running the economy.

A couple of the marchers went back to circle around the McKinley Monument around 3:30 pm. Others followed suit.
